Audi’s New A6 Keeps It Simple, Focusing on Quiet Luxury and Performance
Audi’s designers have given the 2026 Audi A6 a simple makeover. As a recent review in U.S. News & World Report points out, “In a way, it’s ironic that the 2026 Audi A6 seems to have more of everything. It wraps more power, more standard features and more in-car tech into a slinky shape that’s positively extroverted by Audi standards ... The redesigned A6 drills down on this car’s best traditional traits and incorporates much of the old S6’s vigor. It’s understated and luxurious, but not afraid to have fun.” Simplicity is achieved by dropping the A6 Allroad, S6 and RS6.
All three of the A6’s trim levels have a standard engine: an intercooled 3.0-liter Turbo Premium Unleaded V6 offering 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque with standard quattro® all-wheel drive, mated to a seven-speed S-tronic transmission. Audi promises the A6 can do zero-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Riding on standard 19” wheels, the EPA estimates fuel efficiency at 20 mpg city/29 highway/ 23 combined.
The new 2026 Audi A6’s highlights include a newly designed and beefed-up exterior that offers new optional OLED headlight and taillight designs (still with a choice of patterns).
All three A6 trim levels – Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige – include 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen and 11.9-inch driver’s digital gauge. A 10.9-inch front passenger display is available so your co-pilot can stream content while you drive. Other options include head-up display and two choices of stereo sound system by Bang & Olufsen® – 16 or 20 speakers.
Ventilated front sport seats are standard, as is LED interior lighting plus and six-segment dimmable glass roof. Nappa leather seats with front massage function are available. Rev up the driving experience with the available Sport plus package including front sport seats, all-wheel steering and sports suspension.
The Audi A6’s safety equipment includes standard automated emergency braking with forward-collision alert, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Depending on trim, get a top-view camera system with Virtual 360. An available forward-facing camera can record video and store it on an SD card. The Audi drive select assistant can automatically choose the proper driving mode for the situation.
Autoblog’s Kyle Edward says the A6 “reminds us why luxury sedans matter ... It’s for executives who value discretion over flash and craftsmanship over gimmicks.” The Audi A6 “feels solid, drives wonderfully, and looks thoroughly modern...”
